Top Ten Tuesday -- Quotes

This week The Broke and The Bookish gave us a "freebie" week, so here are my Top Ten quotes from books I've read.  At least, they're my top ten today :)

“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
Jane Austen
, Pride And Prejudice

“Tell me what you listen to, and I'll tell you who you are.”  ― Tiffanie DeBartolo, How to Kill a Rock Star

(As a side note, I probably could have pulled 10 quotes from this book alone)

“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.”
John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

(I could have pulled more from this book as well)

“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

“God, I love a man with a big vocabulary.”
Tiffany Reisz, The Siren

“You only get one life. It's actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.”
Jojo Moyes, Me Before You

"It ain’t dying I’m talking about, it’s living. I doubt it matters where you die, but it matters where you live.” ~spoken by Augustus McCrae”
Larry McMurtry, Lonesome Dove

“At the end of the day it's about how much you can bear, how much you can endure. Being together, we harm nobody; being apart, we extinguish ourselves.”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks.”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

“I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.”
R.J. Palacio, Wonder

This was incredibly difficult -- not so much finding the quotes as narrowing it down to 10.  What is one of your favorites?  Let me know!

  2. Some of those quotes made me shake my head in agreement. Others just gave me the giggles. :) Great picks! I am currently reading Rock Bottom by Erin Brockovich, and some of her quotes have also made me giggle. I even read this one to my hubs: "Ever wake up in the morning, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing as you pour your kid's cereal, feeling like you've wandered into The Sound of Music, the sun shining, the birds are humming, and so are you? But, then the dream ends with a crash, and it's the kid shaking you awake, the alarm is blaring, there're no clean socks, it's five minutes till the school bus, he needs lunch money, all you have is a quarter and two cough drops, and all you want to do is crawl back into that dream world?"

  5. I almost picked that HP quote instead of the one I ultimately chose. Both of those are amazing. I also like the one about "Just then, Neville caused a slight diversion by turning into a large canary." :)

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
