Waiting on Wednesday: Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone

From Goodreads:

Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.

I read the first book, Time Between Us, while on vacation a couple of weeks ago and loved every single page -- my review is coming soon, don't you worry.  I fell in love with her characters and can not WAIT to get my hands on Time After Time.

WHY IS OCTOBER SO FAR AWAY?!?!?

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Books I've Read So Far In 2013

The super fun bloggers at The Broke and The Bookish host a fun meme called Top Ten Tuesday and I am addicted!

This week's topic: Top Ten Books I've Read In 2013

I've read 62 books this year...so I totally expected this to not be a difficult list.  Except I've been on a tremendous "good book" streak and I had about 15 or 16 books that could have been on this list.

In fact, I just bumped one down and brought one up...and that's not even talking about how many times I rearranged the list over the weekend when I was first going through my favorites.

But really, what a problem to have, right?  :)

So, here they are -- my top ten books from the first half of 2013.

What books are on YOUR top ten?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Review: Making It Last -- A Novella (Camelot #4) by Ruthie Knox

Sometimes you read something that makes you feel not quite so alone in the world.

That happened with this novella.

Amber and Tony have been married for 10 years. During that time, they have had 3 sons and Tony's construction business has been hit hard by the recession. Times are hard and he is working 15+ hour days.

While he is working to provide for his family, Amber is left to handle the chaos that only 3 high-spirited children can provide. She is wife and cheerleader and teacher and doctor and mother and substitute father and cook and cleaner and chauffeur and whatever other role needs to be fulfilled.

And all the while she is being whoever she needs to be, she forgets how to be Amber.

I have so been there -- and reading this novella brought it all screaming back. The feels. OMG, the feels. It was like looking in a mirror of words and seeing my reflections on the pages.

One hazard of reading romance novels is the risk of comparing truth to fiction...but if everybody's life was like the books we love so much, we wouldn't need to read them. Making It Last reminds us that marriage and relationships aren't always the fairytale story, but that just because things are hard doesn't mean the romance is gone.

Sometimes you just have to knock down walls to find it.

And that it is most definitely worth the effort.

Thank you, Ms. Knox for reminding us what it is all about. And that we aren't alone.

Check out the other works in the Camelot series while you wait for this novella to be released in July.  You won't regret it.

Review: Uncharted: An "On the Island" Novella -- Tracey Garvis-Graves

For real, is there anything better then learning that there will be "more" about characters you love?

Nope.

So I was super excited when I found out about this Novella.

Like, cartwheels down the street excited :)

Owen Sparks was the other (and earlier) inhabitant of "the island" -- but his was a willing decision and Uncharted is his story. So many of the questions that Anna and TJ had during their ordeal were answered and this novella provided the perfect finish to On the Island. That final flourish. That final tug on the pretty bow at the end.

At first I was a little sad that there wasn't more TJ/Anna in this novella, but once I had a chance to sit back and gather my thoughts, I'm now glad that there wasn't. They were still there, and they are still some of my favorite characters ever, but there is an inherent overkill risk with follow-up novellas/epilogues. Allowing this story to be Owen-centric kept that from happening.

I still love Anna and TJ just as much as before.

And now I love Owen and Calia too.

Uncharted is scheduled for release on July 2nd.  If you haven't read On the Island yet, run and get it NOW so you will be ready.  Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
